Gone are the days of confined learning within school walls. Today, students hold the world in their hands through internet-enabled devices. A question arises, what then is the relevance of a teacher if students can find subject content at the palm of their hands?

To answer that question, let me ask you another question, Who makes that subject content available on line? A Pro-Teacher does. This is the educator who not only makes information available online but transforms it into something simplified, meaningful, memorable, and applicable.

A Pro-Teacher pictures the following "4 what ifs";

1. What if students won’t come to class? Let them find you in the Library;

A serious educator should consider writing a book. You cannot limit the learning of your students to always finding you physically in the classroom or in the staffroom. Pro-Teachers are writers, ensuring that their knowledge isn't confined to brick-and-mortar spaces. Write a book; be the guiding voice found not only in class but also in the library.

2. What if they consult Google? Let Google introduce you to the students.

Don't limit educational material to shelves. Learning shouldn't wait until Library doors are opened. Pro-Teachers share their expertise online. Upload content to your website, school platform, or any available online spaces. When students turn to Google, let Google refer them to your invaluable resources.

3. What if they are lazy to read? Let them listen to you on YouTube

There are so many students who visit google with very little or no desire to read at all, they open the search engine and quickly click on videos. A pro-teacher should have a YouTube account with well-organized material for students to consume conveniently anytime, anywhere.

4. What if they love social life? Be present on Facebook or WhatsApp.

This generation won't come to the staffroom; they are busy on Tick Tock. Pro-teachers engage on platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and X; fostering interaction in a friendly yet impactful atmosphere. Be where you students are! if they won't come to the classroom, let's take learning where they are.

If your responses correspond to answers provided to each of the 4 what if questions, congratulations, you are a pro-teacher.
