In the world of education, a common misstep that educators often make is assuming that their academic qualifications and teaching credentials alone will automatically garner respect and admiration from their students. It's easy to forget the words of the renowned education reformer and author, Henry J. Kaiser, who once wisely stated, "Students are the only consumers who don't like what they pay for." It's a stark reality that going to school and sitting in a classroom is not something many people eagerly anticipate; despite the significant financial investments they make in pursuit of knowledge.

So, what truly differentiates the classroom experiences of those who pass through the same schools under identical circumstances, taught by teachers with similar levels of experience? What sets apart those learners who delight their educational journey from those who dread Monday mornings due to uninspiring lessons? Today, we delve into the characteristics that define exceptional teachers – educators who aspire to make permanent mark on the lives of the children they teach. These insights shed light on why one classroom experience can be entirely distinct from another. Enjoyable classrooms are taught by exceptional teachers and exceptional teachers are: -

1. Vision driven:

While many teachers enter the profession as a means to support their families, this financial motive should not be the defining factor in how they are perceived by their students or the broader community. Outstanding educators have a deeper sense of purpose – a clear understanding of why they are in the classroom. They know why their students seek their guidance and are aware of the targets they aim to achieve through teaching. This process, often referred to as discovering meaning and purpose in one's work, is not merely theoretical for them. Exceptional teachers convey this newfound purpose and meaning not just through words, but through their actions. Their approach to communication and their conduct set them apart from teachers who are solely focused on making ends meet.

Children fortunate enough to be taught by such dedicated educators undergo a transformation in their learning journey. They develop a profound appreciation for education, not as a means to an end, but as a pathway to personal growth and enlightenment. These students emerge as more motivated, curious, and purpose-driven individuals, better equipped to navigate life's challenges and make positive contributions to society.

2. Relationship minded:

Exceptional teachers prioritize building connections with their students before diving into the subject matter. If you were to survey adults about their most cherished teachers from their school days, you'd discover that three out of every five adults credit their academic success to those beloved teachers. In contrast, inexperienced educators often prioritize the subject matter over cultivating relationships with their students.

However, truly outstanding teachers view themselves as intermediaries, bridging the gap between the curriculum subjects and the eager minds absorbing them. They understand that the "product" (knowledge) is more likely to be embraced and appreciated if the "buyers" (students) have trust and affection for the "broker" (the teacher).

Learners fortunate enough to be taught by such educators are likely to blossom into well-rounded individuals. They not only excel academically but also develop essential life skills, such as critical thinking, communication, and a love for learning. These students are not just recipients of knowledge; they become inspired, motivated, and empowered individuals who go on to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world.

3. Inspire Passion for Learning:

The mark of a great teacher extends beyond mastery of the subject matter they teach. It lies in their unique ability to inspire and ignite a genuine passion for the subject, especially when that subject may not seem directly relevant to a student's life or career goals. Exceptional teachers excel not only in transmitting knowledge but also in demonstrating how seemingly unrelated subjects can ultimately contribute to a student's broader life objectives. In contrast, less experienced teachers may resort to simply demanding compliance with the curriculum, failing to bridge the gap between what's taught and its real-world applicability.

It's crucial to recognize that even seemingly abstract concepts have their place. While the immediate connection may not be apparent, these fundamentals often form the building blocks for critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deeper understanding of the world. Over time, these seemingly disparate pieces of knowledge can coalesce to create a richer tapestry of learning and personal growth.

Exceptional educators go beyond conventional teaching methods. They possess a personal vision, build strong connections with their students, and inspire a passion for learning. These qualities transform students into well-rounded individuals who not only succeed academically but also make a positive impact on the world. As educators, it's vital to remember that teaching isn't just a profession; it's a lifelong mission to inspire and empower the next generation.

So, my fellow educators out there, I urge you: embrace your personal vision, prioritize building connections, and ignite that passion for learning. Your students are not just the consumers of knowledge; they are the future builders of a better world. Let's empower them to reach their fullest potential and inspire them to become lifelong learners. The impact you make today will shape the leaders, thinkers, and doers of tomorrow.

I like the concept of personal Vision!

As education becomes more and more decentralized, educators will need to evolve as well, crafting their personal theories Of learning which they can use to make learning easy and effective for all learners.

Building connection (relationship)with the students was a highlight cause each time am teaching or interacting with my 12 year little learner back in my mind am thinking of what our jazz will be when I get to meet him / her 12years later .On which grounds will I stand to ask the about their career if I left out the moment of connecting with them on individual basis and truth about life .so thank you people .
