A Small Improvement Is Still IMPROVEMENT!

Last week, I decided to pick up my running and walking habit after letting it slide for a while. My first attempt didn’t quite go as planned—I didn’t reach my usual 6 km distance, and my average time per kilometer slowed from 6 to 7.37 minutes. In short, I ran slower and didn’t hit my target.

I mentioned to you that this was due to a few factors: inconsistency (I hadn’t done it in a while), lack of preparation, and a change in my running route and schedule.

But here’s the good news—my second attempt brought a huge improvement! I not only hit my target, but I surpassed it. I covered 6.14 km, and my pace improved from 7.37 to 7.19 minutes per km on the same route.

I know it might seem like a small improvement, but consider this: in the last 100 years, humans have only improved by 0.8 seconds in the 100-meter dash! That’s the difference between the 1924 and 2024 Olympics gold medalists—less than a second!

So yes, go ahead and congratulate me on this achievement. Let’s celebrate together in the comments! Inspire other teachers by sharing the small but significant improvements you’re making in the right direction.

I’m Paul Naigo, Educator, I believe that nothing happens by accident. Success in your teaching career requires intentional effort.

To create a conducive learning environment for your students, you must first pay attention to your Mental Health. A teacher’s mental well-being directly impacts the classroom atmosphere.

What steps are you taking to guarantee small but significant improvements in your Teaching Journey?

I know the target, and I understand how challenging it can be to reach it. That’s why I prepared—I brought music along (something I hadn’t done before), and I dressed with the mindset of “I’ve done it before, and I can do it again.” And guess what? I did it.

Congratulations to all of you who are registering small wins. Be proud of yourself!

A teacher's impetus to continually innovate e.g. his/her skills of instruction, has a direct relationship with or reflection of his/her students enthusiasm to respond to learn.

N.B. I am not a teacher. This comment is informed by recollection of teachers whose lessons I was eager to attend, as a learner with low motivation for school. Unfortunately, these kind of teachers were few.
